KASBAH | ROOM 45 is the lounge room project for ARCOMadrid 2026 in collaboration with Devesa&Agenjo x Casa Decor, where you can find us. We will tell you all the details below!

In the universe of contemporary art, every detail matters. But there are spaces that are not only observed… they are experienced. At ARCOMadrid 2026, KA International is part of a very special proposal: KASBAH | SALA 45, the lounge project developed in collaboration with the studio Devesa & Agenjo and Casa Decor.

This collaboration was born within the framework of the agreement between ARCOMadrid and Casa Decor, but its origin goes far beyond that. The relationship between the KA International team and the interior designers Ana Devesa and José Agenjo has been woven over time, thanks to years of sharing vision and sensibility within the Casa Decor platform.

Kasbah A lounge where textiles shape the space

The project by Devesa & Agenjo has an immersive atmosphere that transports us to a contemporary souk. A place where layers, textures and chromatic nuances create depth and movement.

Textiles are not a complement. They are part of the soft architecture. They are structure. They are narrative.

Among the selected fabrics, Serena and Manuela stand out in particular. Serena, with its thick terracotta texture, brings warmth and presence. Manuela, a striped design woven on a bouclé base, introduces rhythm and sophistication.

Interview Devesa & Agenjo

What does it mean to design a lounge within an art fair?
Designing a lounge at ARCO is not simply about creating a resting space. It is about intervening in the narrative of the fair. In a context where everything is stimulus, discourse and visual provocation, we understood that our responsibility was to build a conscious pause within the visitor’s journey.

In such a visual and stimulating environment, how do you design a space that invites people to stop?
We worked with architecture as a refuge, enveloping, organic, almost introspective. The mural opens a window to the outside, the central piece invites conversation around the vegetation, and the fabrics that simulate a ceiling offer shelter.

What did you want a person to feel when entering Kasbah?
We wanted them to feel protection, refuge, home. That upon crossing the threshold they would experience that almost instinctive sensation of being safe.

How did the choice of fabrics, textures and colors influence that sense of pause?
Materiality is fundamental for us. And in that sense, the collaboration with KA International has been key. Textiles transform any space into a home and allowed us to take the concept of kasbah even further.

In an ephemeral space such as a fair, does the way you choose materials change?
The logistics change, but not the criteria. Ephemeral does not have to mean superficial. A temporary space can also be honest, sustainable and coherent.

If you had to define this project in one word or feeling, what would it be?
Refuge. KASBAH is a contemporary refuge in the midst of art, movement and constant stimulus.
